School begins as guests arrive!
So we're back in Bali! When things happen here, it seems like they all happen at once.
We finally got school underway after 3 months of vacation! We met up with Harri and Tuomas from Asia Exchange (www.asiaexchange.org), which is with whom we arranged this exchange program with at the beginning of the week. From then on,the entire week has been non-stop.
We had our orientation days, in which there was a very interesting talk held by a lovely woman from the Finnish Embassy (Jakarta); in which she reminded us of the pros, cons, dangers at what nots of living in Indonesia. Funny thing is that our good friends Magnum and Laya finally decided to make it down to Bali for a month, but of course it coincided with our orientation days, and "breaking the ice" party.
We had to give Mags and Laya detailed directions on how to get to our house. We even took photos of what the alley looks like, where to turn, where we hid the key, etc etc. They said they ended up rolling with laughter when they got the photos of Eva pointing (in the photo) which way to turn.
After 2 days of orientation we managed to squeeze in an amazing day of surfing at Uluwatu. Kalle surfed with Magnum for 3 hours, after which we met Magnums good friends Raul and Fermin. The guys are from Venezuela, and super super classic. We laughed until almost sunset with them and almost forgot that we had an ice-breaking-party for school, in which we met many of our fellow students.
It was really well organized and there were a couple of fun games to further break the ice . Most of the students seem really cool. Most students are from Finland but there's some from Sweden, Germany and USA as well.
Can't wait to get going full on with school because just vacationing here can become a bit old.
