We slept for 12 hours! And boy did we need it after yesterday. It shouldn't have been such a difficult travel day, but apparently it was – we were exhausted. But we woke up bright and bushy tailed, the B&B provided a continental breakfast, and we walked out to explore the city. It is larger than I thought, but of course it is a port city. People are quite friendly and helpful, a good thing since I speak only a bit of Italian and Joey speaks none. In our 3 miles around the city center (at least, I think it was the city center) we passed a church, a boat race, some pretty lantana (flowers) and artisanal chocolates. When we returned to the flat, I read this week's johnnyjet.com article on what to do in the case of a terrorist attack (a bit late for us in Paris, but good points nevertheless ). One of them was to download the FireChat app ... Which Joey and I have now done. This is in case there is no phone or Internet connection after an attack. This app works on phones wifi and Bluetooth somehow or other, and passes from one person to another until it gets to the right person. Read the Johnny Jet article and you'll be able to get a clearer understanding of the app. We spent a few hours in the flat playing solitaire and trying to keep warm. Joey of course was more comfortable than I was, as usual, he was comfortable and I was cold. I guess he is just a hot blooded Puerto Rican… While in the flat we heard music nearby - Imagine - and Blowing in the W ind. When we started out for dinner it turned out to be the start of a peace rally in support of Paris. Right outside our door.. We found a cute little taverna Taverna Leandra in the oldest plaza in the city to have a glass of prosecco while waiting for our reservation at a nearby restaurant ... The restaurant is 80Fame and lovely! The reviews stellar, and the interior design different from any we've seen in Italy. They gave us prosecco as we sat down and an antipasto of olive, cheese and bread. The had amerone at 40€ so we couldn't pass it up - and the gnocchi was amazing! I could go back to the slut right now, and be very happy with just the appetizer and the wine. But wait – there's more… OK. I'm not a fan of Gorgonzola. However Joeys medium rare steak with Gorgonzola sauce is something that you absolutely need to try. A warning however - their definition of medium rare is rare. His potato side dish was quartered, soft inside and crisp outside. Perfection ! And the salad i requested was simply lettuce with oil and balsamic vinegar. The medium rare beef with radicchio, honey and pistachio was delicious as well. We want to finish the entire dish, but neither of us has a space in our stomachs to do so. I think we would rather finish our wine… and the water we ordered – I think we will take it home. With the billl we were given amaro. Does anyone know what this is? It taste fabulous - sweet, like a port. I don't know it but I love it…

Lotte Clever Oh goody, I got finally all the blogs beginning with Nov 17th. Thank you. There is an Amaro101online :-). It's simply an herbal liqueur (digestive). Probably really good after all this sumptuous food you write about. Fernet-Branca is 1 of them.
Judith Wonderful!
