So we woke up early after a restless night's sleep (why does it always hit right before you need a good sleep so you can concentrate) and had breakfast at the hotel, packed up the car and hit the road! We wee concerned that there might be snow, but it warmed a touch and we had intermittent rain. Then halfway to Milano - snow! We found the car rental return with little problem, but the cart for our 4 check ins and 2 carry ons was more difficult .. Onto the flight and then 9+ hours of flight. I watched 3 movies, and Emirates was good about feeding us. We got to the hotel (Hampton Inn) and I must say it was the worst hotel of our 2-1/2 month journey. The lobby was dingy, the hallway was musty. The heater blower in our room kicked on loudly every 4 minutes and kept me awake until after 3 am. Earlier I tried to check in for our flight the next morning and the computer's printing system failed . The man at the front desk was kind enough to print it out for me, but a printing system that doesn't work in this day and age needs to be replaced. While the housekeepers kept everything clean and orderly , and the front desk / night clerk at 2:30am offered to send maintenance up, she said she could barely hear herself talk over the blower. So it is a hotel wide issue of an old building with an old heating system.
