Thats right ladies and gents, we have made it to Rome. When in Rome, do like the Romans do.
So today was much more successful train wise, by that I mean we both actually got on the train. The same train. At the same time. Marginally better than the other day I must say. After changing at Pisa (and paying a booking fee of 5 euros, which B bargined down from 15, I chose a bonzer travelling partner) we sat for nearly 4 hours in a little compartment with 3 other relitivly clean looking men all over the age of 50. But its ok becuase they didnt try looking up our skirts which was a welcome change.
We did some snoozing, we played all of our Train Games (guess the intro, guess the quote, guess the lyrics) and then moaned about how bored and hungry we were. But neither of us had money. As in we had about 40 centimes each. Loaded, I know. But its ok becuase were rich in other ways. Like humour. We gots a whole lorra humour.
So then after arriving in Rome, we went to get some food. A buffet jobby so we got the ace-est meal and then when we went to pay Bs card got declined. And I have nothing on mine. So we ran away. Not with the food. That would be stealing.
So hungry and penniless we turned to prostitution and dancing on the streets.
I jest. We went to a bank and changed some travellers cheques. And normally after doing this we dont talk for a little bit becuase we are both angry at the commission rate. But it was ok, it was quite low this time. So we could talk. Then we found a pizza pasta mamma mia place and did like the Romans and binged. Yes binged. We are both now size 12s.
So after doing massive wees (we were holding on the whole train journey and drinking lots of water!!) we felt much better and decided to try and find our campsite. So we got a metro. Then waited for a bus. And I bought a white kitkat which was so good but I didnt buy another one becuase Im Saving Money. So after about 45 minutes we donned the bus that smelt strongly of body odour and feet. Nice. We kept falling into people becuase our bags are so heavy and Rome is so bumpy and also bus drivers are yet to pass their drivers test in Rome. The bus is only 1 euro wherever you go whcih is better than in Woking. But Woking has other good things like the Alien and TKMaxx.
So we made some friends on the bus. By that I mean we briefly talked to some Americans about the campsite, turns out they were staying there too. And they mentioned a hill and we did some loud groaning but its ok becuase he was joking but it wasnt very funny. (So no hill).
Then we checked in and apparently she couldnt find us on the system but I INSISTED wed booked but she made us check and it turned out we hadnt booked and so we booked. And it was cheaper than we thought, only 11.50 euro per night. Bonzer. So we found our tent but the key wouldnt fit so after some jabbing B went back and got another key and that wouldnt fit either and the people near us said, maybe they gave you the key to a shallet instead. So we found the shallet with the same number and it fitted! So we went inside and did the Victory Dance (as mentioned in a previous blog) and it had an en suit so we Settled In and put our stuff down. I even put my tooth brush by the sink. That how much we were Settling In. So you can imagine our dismay when 2 semi-fat Americans came a-knockin' at our door claiming that it was their shallet. I put up a fight but the receptionist got involved so we had to move back to our tent. With the right key this time.
The tent is average: there are 3 beds and there is only me and B so we are hoping for either a nice girl or noone. There are quite a few people here our age so we might even consider talking to other people soon!!
Were here for 2 full days, 3 nights in all so lots of time to see good stuff like the Vatican and the Collesum. For once we have an image that corrospondes to our whereabouts.
Today I missed London when we were coming into Rome becuase all train stations look the same when your coming in to major ones, with lines overhead and grafitti and stuff. And it was overcast and grey. Very London-esque. But its pretty sunny now. Were going to get food in a bit.
