So today we did so much site seeing!! We woke up around 8ish and got the bus to the place where the metro is, and then took the metro to the collsseum and when we got off the metro, it was right there! We didnt even have to look for it.
It was really impressive, much bigger than I thought which is stupid really becuase Ive seen Gladiator. B hasnt and I ruined the ending for her by accident when I was talking about it.
Then wed been outside literally about 5 minutes when a man came up and sold us a tour for 23 euros which was pretty steep but we got in straight away rather than queueing for ages and also we got another tour of the ruins just near it too. So really it was better.
So then we were given these little ear pieces to put in so we could hear the lady but really it didnt help at all becuase she was holding it too close to her mouth so its was crackly and we couldnt really understand her anyway. But it was alright. We got lots of pictures, and we even found some Roman blood! B recons it was paint but it was clearly blood.
Its alot more ruined than I expected it to be, I found it quite hard to imagine where all the seats and stuff would be which was a little disappointing because I thought I would be able to imagine it more. I was also sad about how touristy it was, I mean I know its like the main attractive in Rome, atleast one of, but I didnt realise there would be so many people. It was hard to get by in some parts. And everyone was american. Generally obese.
But it was cool becuase the bit where the Gladiators fought was all torn away and the underneath bit where they queued waiting to go into the ring, all the corridors where they were kept before hand were all on show and that was really interesting to see and that was good to imagine. And they had rebuilt a part of the ring for you to imagine aswel, that was interesting and helped too.
Then we left the tour and had 1 hour to peruze and stuff and we were standing next to some Rich Americans who had clearly hired their own private lady to show them around so we ear wigged and that was much better than our own tour beccause she was telling them really interseting stuff. So that was bon.
Then we took pictures and stuff and there was a big cross there which I found very ironic because its hardly a good christian thing to do, to kill a load of christians for amusment. Though we found out that more jews were killed than Christians.
After we found the group for the 2nd tour we went to the ruins and walked around and that was quite interesting but after a while all ruins look the same so I found it got a bit tedious. Though there were loads of good views of Rome so B was loving it. And we found out lots of things like Romulus and Remus founded Rome but they were fighting for ages about whether it should be called Roma or Rema so Romulus killed Remus and thats called a fratrucide, when brothers kill each other.
And we also saw an underground tunnel where an Emporer was killed and to this day noone knows how or why or by who.
Then we felt tired so went to a pasta place and I had gnocci and B had a calzone but they were both quite doughy.
Apres we went to look at a fountain but some strange Italien men tried to make us go the beach so we left. Then we went to Trevvi and THAT WAS SO PACKED!! Literally. The first thing I took a picture of was the croud. But it was pretty impressive though not as big as I imagined. But still quite good. Considering its a fountain and all. Apparerntly, we leart today, that when the Bohemiens tried to take Rome they cut off the Aquaducts but they didnt know that Trevvi was run on a seperate underground system so they did that too. Now its fresh water. I think Ive got that right. I kind of dipped in and out of listening. Its gets tiring listening to facts all the time.
And then we took a wrong turning on the way back and walked down a street and saw a little band and danced to that for a while, then we saw some street dancers and we watched them and clapped. Then we saw this boy who was like 14 doing street art, he was amazing so we looked at him for ages. And he was selling them for only 10 euros but we didnt really like them it was juts cleaver.
