What attracted us to visit Tucuman was its title ´Garden of Argentina´but as you all know things aren´t always as they seem and it wasnt quite what we expected but a beautiful city all the same.
A flustered arrival at the bus station when Maz realized she had lost her ATM card. With Dals calming influence and a call to her bank, order was restored. Unfortunately we lost Andy during the commotion. We had agreed to meet at a named hostel but on arrival we found it no longer existed! (a regular occurence with lonely planet guide). Luckily we managed to find an alternative but Andy was nowhere to be seen. After setting down our luggage we made our way to the main plaza to see some of the sights. The plaza being one of the greenest we have seen with impressive buildings overlooking. We trawled the streets seeking a veggie restaurant but with little success..... settling on a corner eatrie that served veggie canelones.
After checking out of our room we left luggage in reception and visited the Casa Historica de la Indepencia (where the Argentinian declaration of independance was signed). Unfortunately on this occasion there was no guided tour so we had to make out what little we could of the spanish explanations. Followed by a visit to the main shopping centre where we killed time window shopping. We came across a chocolate shop that had a seated cafe in the back. Inticed by the mixture of aromas we had coffee and biscuits to recharge the batteries. Lastly we took a stroll through the park, relaxing in the shade and enjoying the tranquility before heading back into the city to continue our journey onto Corrientes where we were reunited with Andy.
