So this morning we woke up at 8am to smash the free breakfast the hostel offers.
After breakfast we once again started discussing options -
1) we will not do strawberry work with this farm, as its poor pay and very hard work.
2) the blueberry job near Coffs is a no go, simply due to the logistics of accommodation and getting to work etc.
3) due to all the uni students going back to school in Sydney, there is A LOT of work going. Dan has spoken to 3 different friends who all said there is a lot of work going and it's easy to walk into jobs.
4) Atleast 3 people have used a farmer near Coffs to sign off their second year VISA for a fee of about $300-$400, without having to do farm work, so this is a very good option if we arnt to do 3 months farming.
At this moment in time my head is in the following place - If we are able to get fruit picking jobs, or just any job, through Fenella we shall do that for between a couple of weeks to a month. That way we will have earned a respectable amount of money.
With that we will go down to Sydney a bit more financially stable, stay with our friend free for a week, find work, and when we all have the money move into a short term flat with Dan, Dave, Charlie and maybe Craig.
We will earn very good money (wages in Sydney are normally $25+ per hour), pay the farmer to sign off our VISA's, travel the coast and then potentially go to Bali.
That is once again just a rough idea, but it is the once which makes the most sense, as we will be able to earn the money we need to do our traveling, and we won't have I break our backs on a fruit farm..
We spent the afternoon finishing our CV's so that when we get somewhere we need to work, we can just print out as many as possible and just hand them to all the possible employers.
I also played quite a lot of pool (as its free) with Daveo while we were just discussing any possible options we have.
About 4pm Dan got a phone call from a friend in Brisbane, saying there is also loads of work there - he just turned up and was sorted with a job within 3 days.
So the plan changes, again - Dan, Daveo and Charlie will go to Brisbane on Friday and book into a hostel doing a deal of $99 for accommodation with a job agency thing included.
I will stay up here (just 2 hours away) and move in with Fenella for about a week as they have offered. That way I can do further research into finding jobs in this area, including Noosa, whilst living very cheap and am able to chill for a while.
If the guys find good work I will go and meet them (or if after a week I find nothing), and if I can find good work up here they will come back up and join me.
I think this is a much better idea than Sydney, mainly as its so far away it's putting all our eggs in one basket again. I will speak to Fenella tonight and confirm this will be ok..
