HAPPY 2008 - FELIZ DOS MIL Y OCHOWe've survived and enjoyed 2007 and the stress and joy of changing our lifestyle, so now we're looking forward towards our travels this year. We still have some work to do on the boat (the forestay is lying on the quay side and the self steering remains unfixed/replaced) but our discussions are moving on to future plans. Dad Douglas and Pamella have been with us over the festive period, which has been a great help since I broke a toe on Christmas day! Our Spanish is improving we now know that the Urgencies dept at the hospital is A&E! We have been doing the usual traditional things like drink too much and eat too much over Christmas. We have had a few fun outings to Barcelona including a trip to a small Argentinean circus which was great fun. The weather has been lovely - warm during the day but very cold at nights with ice on the decks first thing. Christmas morning saw us all playing on the beach while John prepared the dinner (Pamela says that his xmas chicken was unsurpassed). The afternoon I have already mentioned was spent by the girls playing with Ian and Pamela, and John and I sat in urgencies while I had my toe reset from its interesting right angle shape and taped up straight.I have since heard that my dad has joined me on crutches - very friendly of him! Hope you get off them soon dad!The other news is that Sarah James and Ben have been joined by baby Elizabeth - she looks gorgeous in the pics and I wish I could see her for myself. Congratulations!!!!The boat jobs are pottering along - it doesn't look like we are going to find a quick solution to our steering issue so we are prepared to be here for a while. We are having fun at the moment (except Ellen who is having the next bug with her usual gusto). We had a New Year party on the boat with Phil Janet Rory and Erin who made it here to see us (hooray hooray - lovely to see you all) and Trevor Tanya Darcy and Maisy who live up the road and have befriended us since we have been here. Unfortunately Ellen missed it and even chocolate and crisps couldn't tempt her out of bed! Pamela also missed it as she flew home to get back in time to go back to work.We saw in the new year with some grapes (Tanya told us it was a Spanish custom but she may have been having a laugh - not quite sure?!?) and are looking forward to kings day - celebrations go on and on and on! Hopefully at some point all the chandlery shops will resume work! The weather is forecast to change tomorrow bringing wind and rain so we will see if Johns latest repairs to the windows over our bed have worked.I have to go now and play monster faces with Anna - just another day in paradise!
