Well we did it, we moved the boat! We didn't get as far as we hoped as the kids seemed a bit fragile (scarred) and sleepy due to motion (although not as queasy as Liz). Heading up wind into 20 knots of breeze wasn't really the gentle start we hoped for but light winds are forecast for tomorrow and we should round Cabo de Gata and get out of the wind acceleration zone. The boat sailed well 50 degrees to the wind at 7 knots under full sail. The auto helm is still not working, I'm going to play with it tomorrow when are motoring in 5 knots of wind with happy children enjoying themselves (thinking positive). We ended up in Almeria at the posh yacht club (great showers!), getting in was exciting! As the holding berth is only about 16 meters long and had a yacht in front and a rocky ledge tight behind, so we'll be trying out springing the stern off tomorrow! (will try and remember to take some pics to prove incredibly skillfull berthing) We got in with no problem though which was lucky as there was no room for error, they have marineros (not correct spelling) in Spain who catch your lines and generally help out when you park (which is great). The detail they require at the offices here is unbelievable took us about 10 minutes to fill out the form and we had to show the kids passports as will as ours even though only coming from another Spanish port. Thankfully they couldn't fit us into the club proper so let us stay on the waiting dock for the night, think one night is probably all we would be welcome!John (amended by liz!)
