Hello again! We are in Mallorca, in Andrax, currently anchored in the inner harbour on 3 anchors. How did we come to be here? Well, Alberto and Manolo finally finshed our steering to all of our satisfaction on Monday 25th of Feb (I think) and we filled up our new tanks with diesel (no leaks - hooray) and set off to try out the autopilot and the steering. It all worked well, and as there was a favourable breeze and we had paid up and packed up the dingy and the bikes before setting off we thought we might as well just keep going. John and I had decided on 3 hour watches at night, so after a lovely afternoon and evening sail (the girls watched number jacks and bobinogs I think) John went to bed at 8pm and I sat up until 11, putting on the engines as the breeze disappeared. John apparently had a lovely watch which involved the moon coming up (was cloudy for me) and saw the ferry pass about a mile off our stern. I took over at 2am and after eating the whole supply of crisps and chocolate and having an uneventful time saw a ship approaching on the port quarter. I took a couple of bearings on it which didn't change (a sign that we were on a collision course) but assumed that I was doing something wrong. Not until it was very very close did I call john up, and then decided I couldn't wait for him to get a grasp of the situation and turned away from the ship as fast as possible! I continued circling for a while until I calmed down enough to find our course again, and john went back down to get some sleep! He had a lovely watch and saw the sunrise and also saw Mallorca appear out of the morning mist.Ellen and Anna woke up quite happy, and watched snow white in Italian (a present from Ciara) which they loved. The only other event was running one engine out of diesel (forgot to pump up to the header tank) then having to bleed it, but we motored happily into Andrax bay and anchored in some rubbish sand (took 3 attempts to anchor, successful on changing the anchor to the Danforth) at around 1pm.We met up with our friends Alex, Trak and Jack (soon to be … and Fin) who we had met in Almerimar, and have been having a great time here (although missing all our friends from Castelldefels). We came into the inner harbour as there were strong winds forecast (you are allowed to more in here where there is better holding if the wind kicks up) and sat out some 30 knot winds on 3 anchors, and also had a hail storm! We are very excited about all the visits over the next month - the first of which is Sarah James Ben and Lizzie who we can't wait to see - or in Lizzies case to meet! They will be arriving exactly 6 months after they waved us off at Prestwick. After them we are expecting Ian for a week and then, Mo and Logan and Adam with Irene and John (staying ashore in a villa I hasten to add) quickly followed by Jon, Nicola, Isaac, Nina, Rosa and Frances and Roy (also in a villa ashore!). Needless to say I will be having long hot baths at both villas, and taking my washing there!
