Heading south down the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula after leaving Streaky Bay, we stopped in at many little towns - Venus Bay, Elliston, and Coffin Bay, before reaching our next destination - Port Lincoln.
We met up with Tam, Greg, Ruth and Brandon plus kids, and all set up camp at the caravan park overlooking the bay. Unfortunately, with waterviews came, you guessed it, the wind. We battened down the hatches as best as we could and set about seeing the town.
Slacked around on our first day, did a bit of sightseeing, and a few chores. The second day saw us taking a trip out to the middle of the bay to visit a mock tuna farm, where we got to handfeed and snorkel with these torpedo-like fish. It was something else! The water visibility wasn't great that day, so we'd be floating around and suddenly - BOOM! A tuna would rocket up from the depths, snatch a pilchard from right in front of us, and zoom back into the murk. And they never run into you, being a schooling fish. Thank God, as the ones we were swimming with weighed about 30kg. What amazed us most is that, on the actual tuna farms, they catch the tuna by hand when its time to sell them. Mr Miyagi eat your heart out!
At the end of our visit to Port Lincoln, we said our goodbyes to Tam & Greg + family (Brandon, Ruth & Jacob had got a jump start on us the day before), and drove up the east coast of the Eyre Peninsula.
