From Ceduna we headed down to Streaky Bay and met up with Tam & Greg, and Brandon & Ruth again, after losing them somewhere on the Nullarbor - God only knows how we did that, on a straight, flat, treeless road...
Streaky Bay is a lovely little town situated on a sheltered bay on the western side of the Eyre Peninsula. The first day we set up and checked out the town, and generally took it easy. After a couple of big days driving, we were pleased to be out of the car.
Day 2 we went on a sightseeing tour, checking out the many bays and surf breaks in the area. We were stoked to spy a sea lion lolling around off one of the headlands, there is a big colony of them not far off the coast. Back to camp for lunch, then Lee went out flyfishing for the afternoon, unfortunately with not much luck. Except for the big mesh bag full of oysters that he hooked, that must've come from the nearby oyster leases. He dutifully threw them back in, fearful that a local oyster farmer might see him, even more fearful of any firearms said oyster farmer might own.
We spent the evening out at the pub with Tam & Greg, Brandon & Ruth plus assorted kids, followed by a walk out on the timber jetty in town. It was like Pitt Street out there, with every man and his dog out fishing.
Time's a ticking, so we're heading further down the Eyre Peninsula, before making our way around to Adelaide for a visit with one of Lea's most darling friends, Sue.
