Today was 'leave Kings Creek Station day. Back to Alice Springs, which is starting to feel like home to us as we have spent so much time there.
Packed up and headed off fairly early and travelled west towards Kings Canyon, as we were planning to travel along the Mereenie Loop road, which was a road through Aboriginal Land. Last time Neil, Sharon, Melanie and Joanna were told they couldn't travel along the Loop road as they were told it was far too rough as the NT Govt never graded it.
Turns out that the road was fantastic. Smoother than the Hume Highway in places. We were travelling at over 100kmh a lot of the time, and the first 30kms of it was asphalt. There was also a small part in the middle of loop which went up a steep hill and that was asphalt as well.
Got in to Alice Springs and booked back into McDonnell Ranges Caravan Park. Setup and then went for dinner over to the pizza restaurant across the road. The pizza’s were very good.
Back to the campers for bed. A rest day for some of us tomorrow, but Neil has to go into town and get his HF aerial fixed as he had found out that it was faulty and not working.
