DAY 3: Cadney Park (South Australia)-Alice Springs (Central Australia)
This morning we got up early once again and headed off at to Alice Springs at 7:00am. Whilst we were packing up, Melanie took photos of the magnificent sunrise. Our first stop was at Erldunda, where we filled up the petrol tanks enough to last us till Alice Springs. The fuel was expensive, it was $1.95.9 per Lt. It was a quick stop and we got back on the highway to Alice Springs. We finally arrived in the big town of Alice Springs and filled up with fuel once again. We got to McDonell Ranges Caravan Park (has to be one of the best in Australia)and set up our camper-trailers. Because we left Cadney Park early and it was only a 5hr drive we arrived in Alice Springs at 1:00pm early enough to relax and have lunch. For lunch once again we had the left over wraps and cold meat. Unfortunately because the Northern Territory has had so much rain and all the highways are closed, we are unable to go up the highway to Kulumburu. So we may have to stay in Alice Springs for longer than a night. After lunch we had a couple of drinks before getting ready to go out for dinner at the Bojangles pub in the town centre. Bojangles is a live pub, they have video surveillance which is viewed on the web and is throughout the world so travelers overseas can by seen by their parents. It was such a great pub and such an outback, Aussie pub. They had crocodile skin on the ceiling, and you can crack peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. It was such a spectacular experience and a joyful and yummy dinner. After dinner we drove back to the caravan park and sat down and had some more drinks before bed. Tomorrow we are having a relaxing day and are planning what we are going to do whilst waiting for the highways to open for us to continue our trip to WA.
