My Trip
My First Day
So I get off the plane and leave my stuff in my dorm room and walk the 10 minutes down the road to the travellers conact point...ten minutes my arse...its at least 20 away. Anyhow back to the point! I get my bank account sorted and looking around for houses on the board I bump into the girl. We start chatting and shes really cool, her name is Tuire but I just could be pronouning that the whole time and shes from Finland...so I name her Fin! We decided to go for a walk and randomly end up in the botanic gardens. This was a really cool spot, great for running in the morning, it weaves around the non harbour bridge side of the opera house and believe me its gorgeous. We have seen Bats, Parrots and even a posson in the gardens...was so cool to see all of this so quickly as well! We walked the length of the gardens, before being so inticed by the Opera House itself we couldnt resist but visit it.
Its so huge, although from the pictures it looks minute compared to the skyline which I love by the way...and the white stone that covers it, is actually tiles! Full of useful facts me! And it sits on reclaimed land to the right of Circular Key (where all the ferries go from). Walking inside and around it is so mesmorizing...my god I am Sydney for gods sake how cool is this? and you can see the Harbour Bridge from here also...the views are simply stunning, in a skyline sort of way.
I will be going to see Romeo and Juliet at the Opera House when I save up enough money!
We took a walk down to the key passing some really nice restaurants and bars on the way. The walk is really gorgeous and costs nothing!
Knackered we head back to my hostel, fin ws staying up the road in a hotel but soon saw the light and moved into the hostel. There we bumped into two of my sharing dorm people, Liza and Claudia scottish sisters, who were really really funny. Fate or what since I now live in a shared house with both Liza and Fin...Claudia had to go home. But that night we went down to the bar underneath the hostel called Side Bar, for some food and didnt leave until 2am when it shut....Acoustic music by this guy called Dan whos been playing there for years and years I think....hes got a good voice though...very melodic! Claudia had a big crush on him, as did most of the bar me thinks. So a night of food and music, ended up in Liza getting home at 7am. Quality! We went to another bar after that a place so horrible...I try never to go but one of the only bars open 24/7 Scruffy Murphies......urghhhhhh thats all I have to say on that...
The Second night really was pretty much the same as the first, apart from Fin and I walked the length of the Harbour Bridge at night for some great photos! Its amazing in the day but even better at night, seems to glow, yet not destroy the night sky. Its so clean here that you can see the stars every night. From there we met the girls and went to the Ice Bar...A bar made completely of Ice....how cool is that. Our drinks were in Ice glasses! and we had to wear proper snow jackets and gloves as it was minus 9 in there. Claudia was hilarious inventing the penguin dance....and waddelling all over the bar. Even the tables and chairs were made of Ice. The rest of the night followed the previous...drunk in Sydney....has become a habbit I am determined to break soon.
however the 4 of us danced the night away...was really fun.
