It's 7.30am and I'm in bed peering out of the window at the thick cloud and fog. Its bloody freezing. Just saw the weather on the tele and they say the fog will burn away later and it will be nice.
Didn't do a single bit of writing yesterday. 11 hours on a plane and I didnt pick up my pen once. We woke up early at the Premier Inn yesterday. We went downstairs and had a Costa to wake ourselves up, and then got ready to leave. It was dark, pissing with rain and thunder and lightening! Just what I needed. I felt sick. Got over to the airport and it all went really smoothly and quickly. The security bit has been upgraded and it seems much quicker. As soon as we got through we went to Huxleys for breakfast.
Eggs Benedict with salmon and OJ for him, salmon, scrambled eggs and apple juice for me. The weather was really bad and loads of flights to Europe were delayed or cancelled. One more thing to set me off.
Took my mimd off of the s***ty weather with a bit of retail therapy. Got 2 bottles of perfume and the price nearly made Nick faint! £120 which I happen to think is a right bargain.
Time for a Starbucks and a valium at the gate and before we knew it, it was time to board. After moving a woman who accidentally sat in our seat, we got our selves settled in, Nice wide seats with loads of leg room. So far so good. Before we came I planned loads of films I wanted to watch, I was going to write and read my kindle. I did read for a while but only managed 2 films. Managed to get a nap though so that was a result. It was a really smooth flight. No turbulance, which I was most relieved about. The valium didnt knock me out as much as last time. I think it must have been because I wasn't as tired. It definately made me feel more relaxed though. We had beef for dinner then a bit later they gave us a box that has some nachos, cake and biscuit. Tea or coffee. Before we landed we got a folded pizza thing too. Much to Nicks delight. We weren't expecting a third little treat. Just as well it cheered him up a bit cos by that time he had the raging a******* with the people in front. The woman in front of me laid her chair back the whole time. I wasn't that bothered but she wasn't even laying down! The bloke piss-balled about the whole flight and with a couple of hours to go, he flung his chair back once too many times and whacked Nick. Nick went mental and I really thought he was going to throttle the bloke. I hate flying at the best of times and that just made the whole thing worse. I swapped seats with Nick to help calm the situation but the bloke was a p****and kept turning round in his seat. In the end I told him to shut up and go about his own business and not to wind Nick up anymore that he already had. By the time the last snack came around he couldnt sit his chair up fast enough! It had all been going so well up until that point. He completely spoiled it. Nick wouldn't watch the end of the film after that and the atmosphere was decidedly chilly.
When we finally made it off of the plane we joined a massive line to get our luggage. Then another huge line to collect the car. It was a major operation and Nick won't queue at the best of times. It was 6pm by the time we finally made it to the hotel. Our room is on the 18th floor. Its like winter, blowing a gale and freezing cold. We strolled to Starbucks just down the road and nearly froze to death!
Made the effort to go to Macys last night for the Cheesecake factory. It was heaving with people, freezing and we were like a couple of zombies. We both nearly nodded off at the table and Nick went for a wee 10 times to keep awake. Needless to say, we didn't eat of our delicious Ruben sandwiches and instead got the bill and a cab home. It was all lovely but we were in such a state. I actually felt seasick.
Need to knock this on the head now. Nick's awake and prancing about tapping at his belly. We're heading off to Union Square for brekko, China Town for lunch and tonight we'll be freezing half to death at the Baseball. I'm knackered before we even start!
