Hi guys sorry we couldnt post a christmas message on here, we have been struggling for an internet cafe - in Sydney of all places would you believe!! But thanks for all your kind messages and all of your christmas cards and dollars it is much appreciated.
Firstly hope you all had a really good christmas day and boxing day we thought of you in the cool climate that is England - whilst we sunbathed in Rachels garden in Sydney. The map will show us in Byron Bay at the minute, but I can assure you that we are in Sydney not far from the Opera house and the Harbour Bridge.
Surfers Paradise was suprisingly quite a nice place, we heard lots about the place - mainly that it wasnt full of surfers and that it wasnt paradise! But we decided to go there with an open mind and we think our love of theme parks helped greatly as we had the choice of going to any of four theme parks when we arrived there. Our hostel was ok, it really let itself down though as the room was really nice but above the door was like an ornamental thing which was pretty much open to the lounge where everyone sat listening to music and watching TV til all hours of the night! To top this some stupid staff member decided she would get a spare key and open our door at 3am - I wont repeat what I shouted at them when they walked in, although if they took another step they may have been decapitated. The following day after complaining to the manager we decided that Movie world would be our best choice of theme park as it doesnt only cater for rides but parades and different shows as well.
Movie world seemed to be a really good choice - it was pretty quiet there we got on most things after about a 15 minute wait or shorter in most circumstances. Had a good laugh watching Shrek 4D with our designer 4D glasses! We also were in fits of laughter watching the Police Academy stunt show where people fell from roofs, helicopters were blown up and people ended up with their pants round their ankles - check the pics. We went out for a slap up meal on the night here and headed to the night market where we bought a little bit of Art for our return - so mum, we hope you have left us some space to hang some stuff up!
Byron Bay was in our opinion pretty disappointing - there was practically nothing to do other than surf, which when its cold and cloudy is not much fun! We were so bored there we actually ended up watching James Bond in the cinema, shopping was ok here though and we bought a couple of things to refresh our wardrobes. To be honest guys if your travelling the same route in future - I'd give Byron a miss!!
Well we took the overnight bus to Sydney from Byron which lasted 13hours - we were knackered when we got to Sydney on the 23rd so pretty much slept the rest of the day!! Had a nice chilled christmas day at Rach & Paddys - Paddy cooked a really nice dinner for us and we had plenty of beers together, Rach and Paddy even bought us a couple of little pressies bless them. Me and Michelle took a little walk to Sydney Harbour bridge and got some nice pics of the harbour and the opera house on a very bright and sunny christmas day - our first one ever!
Well hope you all didnt miss us too much over christmas - we will be having one when were back in February to make up for it! Thanks, once again for all your messages, cards and pressies - means a lot guys x x x Dan & Shell x x x
