Ho ho ho merry christmas, we can tell you it feels more like July than December here! Its madness, blue skies and sunny yet Santa is in practically every store we walk past! I was very touched by the messages guys - Ken and Glowworm brought a tear to my japs eye by dedicating lucky man to me - thanks guys!
Well we have probably hit the nicest city so far on our travels, Brisbane truly was gorgeous. It was unlike most other cities as it wasnt overpowering and people weren't constantly rushing about and yapping away on their mobile phones. It also has its own man-made beach beside the river with a lagoon which was pretty good too.
We arrived here mid afternoon and after checking in at our very upmarket hostel - they gave us swipe cards an all! We decided to venture out for some dinner, we stopped off at a cafe at about 13:45 and ordered some food, only to find that the order hadnt gone through to the kitchen and they stopped serving at 2pm - the time when the kitchen actually got our order! Although slightly agrieved we headed off to try elsewhere, when it dawned on us that every single restaurant, cafe and bistro stopped serving at 2pm. Subway even ran out of bread! In the end - much to Shells dismay we had to do it... there was no other choice..... we had a....... McDonalds!!
After our slightly stomach turning lunch, we had a quick look around the city and found it to be really pretty and laid back. We walked along the river and around the botanical gardens, they had a free bus service which ran in a loop around the city - perfect for us to have a look. We booked up on a river cruise for the following day and decided to head back to the hostel for a spot of dinner.
The next day we went on our river cruise which lasted for about one and a half hours. We saw all of the local river sights and took plenty of pictures - we had only one night here and it was pretty tough to fit everything in, probably could have done with two nights.
All in all we sort of have a soft spot for Brisbane as a city and would definately recommend anyone going out there to take a look at it as it has plenty of things to do and see and is also really close to Noosa and Surfers Paradise.
Take it easy guys - Merry christmas!!!!!!!!! Love from Dan and Shell x x x
