Happy new year everyone! Premature yes, but at least we said it before the event this time!! Well, as you have probably guessed we are in Sydney at the min staying with Rach and Paddy. Where we have spent Christmas eve, Christmas day and boxing day.
We arrived in Sydney on the 23rd and once again hit the rain, disappointing and made even worse by the fact that we had travelled for 13hours by Greyhound bus - which by the way it is practically impossible to sleep on because they have every hour meal breaks! Having arrived at Rachel and Paddys we practically went to sleep for a few hours before we took our first steps in the city. We headed out via bus into the city and although it was a cloudy day we got a good feel of the city and got to see the Opera house and the harbour bridge.
After a good nights sleep we decided it would be good to start booking up some adventures like the Sydney bridge climb (which I am pretty scared about doing!), the blue mountains and the Sydney tower & Oz trek. We eventually just grabbed a few brochures and a map of Sydney and as it was Christmas eve we ended up as you probably guessed in a bar at about 2pm whilst the rain belted down like monsoon season!!
Christmas day turned out to be better weather than expected and having risen at 9am to see that Santa had unloaded his sac all over Rachels lounge, we decided to get stuck in. Rachel and Paddy bought me a CD of an Australian artist called Missy Higgins which was well cool of them, Shell got a lovely packet of ready salted french fries and a t-shirt of I love Sydney - nice! Thanks everyone for the cards and moolah, thanks to you guys we are able to afford to go to New Zealand for 10 nights so its much appreciated.
Rachel and Paddy had planned boxing day for us and had said they were going to the horse racing - which we were both looking forward to, unfortunately in the morning they had a change of heart and decided to stay at home for a chill out. We ended up going though and had a right laugh, we won 50% of the races too which was good, the weather was so hot its got to be said it was the warmest boxing day we have ever had!
The following day was just as hot, clear and sunny so we headed into the city for a good look around. We ended up booking on a boat trip on a power jet called the Silver Bullet for a 45minute jet propelled tour of the river! Having got ourselves truly soaked we decided to go up Sydney tower, which is the same height as the Eiffel tower - I was well proud of myself though - I went all the way to the top with Shell this time and managed to have the nerve to take some photos! We then headed to Oz trek which is basically like a simulated view of Australia in a cinema and 4D which was really good, we had already seen practically all of the things that were on there for real so it was quite funny hearing people saying "we have got to go see and do that".
Were off now to go have a few well deserved beers, so in the meantime hope you are doing well and in good health and your hangovers from christmas have finally passed! Love to you all, have a really good day & night for New Year and we will be in touch x x x Dan and Shell x x x
