I love these long summer days! The sun sets at 10pm:) Joy! Played trivia last night with a group of about 75 people. Out of 14 teams, we came in 5th or 6th-not too shabby! There was a big screen with various categories and audio/video clips. Very challenging and had many questions about New Zealand!
Left Mount Cook at 8 am. I will add it to my top 5 places list! Crisp mountain air, blue skies! Even more beautiful than
when we arrived yesterday:) No stars unfortunately last night-too much cloud cover:( On to Rangitata this morning.
Just a side note-water at restaurants is available for you to take in glass bottles from a fridge or on the counter and you simply serve yourself. I like that-less work for the servers and customers all the way around! Top beer brands-Speights; Mac's gold; stein lager.
Grade 5 rafting here in Rangitata normally but they are not going out this afternoon due to the rain and the water level is too high. The group is sitting in the camp/cabin either reading, playing games, eating or sleeping. Some are journalling, but not many....not much else to do out here, except slow down, relax, unwind (unless you're rafting)!
New bus driver from Queenstown-Miss P (stands for Miss perfect-lol)-she is only kidding. My favourite one thus far-finally-laid back, seems reasonable.
This camp is very basic-9 to a room. Bunks stacked 3 high! Madness-should be yet another interesting night!
Another surprising fact here is that I would say over half the people smoke which is odd for some reason! The cost of a pack of cigarettes here is $15-most people buy tobacco and papers and plastic filters and roll their own!! Shocking to me.
