Earliest start yet-up and on the bus by 7am! Back along the windy road with views of the hills full of sheep and dairy cows!!
Only about a 90 min.drive back here to Tongariro National Park and we got to check in early to the Park lodge-one of the nicer hostels again:) 4 bed loft with ensuite! I was able to do laundry, dry my clothes outside, sit outside for a bit to really take in the view here-snow capped mountain Whakapapa (pronounced 'f***apapa').....took a walk to the train station cafe with Daisy from Switzerland. I love this place:)
I love being 'still' today. Got to listen to the wind blow through the trees (actually hearing it); felt the warm sun beaming on my skin; the green grass and plants around me. We are always so stimulated in our society, always have noise of some sort. Nice to not even speak sometimes and only hear nature:)
What I also love seeing are individual trees that grow on the side of a cliff or in the middle of a field-why there? They survive being exposed in the elements-I am intrigued with this:)
Right now I am staring at miniature daisies which grow like weeds here-similar to buttercups. So pretty:)
I have no concept of what time it is, what day of the week it is and I love that! Ahhhh-one of the many benefits and joys of vacation and travel:)
Mother nature has done well here. This park is again-spectacular!
Simple pleasures today-long black with milk; egg and ham on an English muffin; sunshine; mountains; sky; trees; hot shower; laundry; wifi; a phone call with my sister; a photo of my doggies:) I know that I mentioned being unplugged and still-don't want to sound like an oxymoron but....I also do like some modern conveniences that enable me to feel connected to my family and friends-it's finding a fine balance between the two:)
Life is good:) Tonight, dinner outside with a view and tomorrow-onwards to Wellington!! Xo
