4 hour ferry ride from the north island to the south island. Wellington and the Cook strait both very windy!
New bus in Picton-2 girls left their sushi on the previous bus for 3 days-yuck! So stinky!
Stopped at a winery for a quick tasting-bought a $10 bottle of sauvignon blanc for tonight. Huge industry for NZ-$200 million dollars/year!! Met a girl named Helen from England on this bus.
She was chatting with some kiwis last night who told her to pronounce words with a 'd' in place of a rolling 'r' (ie.mawdy for Maori)...
We passed by a fence full of trainers (running shoes)-odd. I guess
there is one full of bras and one full of toothbrushes-somewhere in NZ?!
Also passed through Havelock-known for its' green shell mussels-supposedly we are having some tonight....
Came around a bend in the highway and came to a complete stop-accident. Stopped for 45 mins.
Stopped in Nelson around 5pm-kite boarders galore! Flying high up in the air-unreal!
Motueka-cool town which we passed
through.
Got into Abel Tasman park at 645pm. Went straight to hike along the trail for an hour or so to yet another gorgeous beach-was the only one on the trail and on that beach. I desperately needed the time alone! Have felt cramped and rushed these past few days and the bus driver has been quite rude and ignorant-negative energy on that bus now:(
Tonight, 4 people staying in a 5 bed cabin. New bus with new people tomorrow....can't wait!!
