So Air New Zealand rocks! They spoofed the Hobbit for their safety video montage-very clever and very funny! Free movies, hot lunch, tasty beverages (unheard of nowadays with airlines) on a flight that was 3 hours long! That's really the way it should be! Even Air Canada doesn't do that anymore:(
Touchdown in Auckland-a bit rainy but everything is lush and green:) Merry Christmas! The immigration officer was very handsome, grinned and smiled while welcoming me into New Zealand! I should say-gorgeous and his accent! Welcome to New Zealand indeed:)
Caught the airbus from the airport-right downtown and decided to stay at Base hostel. Sanctuary dorm room-meaning girls only-6 bunk beds for $35/pp/night. Organized my pack; looked out the window and saw Starbucks-all righty! Got my favorite latte, got lost in the crowd of Boxing Day shoppers on Queen Street and stopped in at Subway for dinner. Ahh, the familiarities from home! Nice conveniences upon my arrival! The price of gas is just over $2/L; there are Mobil gas stations too!
Noticed that there are lock boxes beneath the bunks. Brought a lock so shoved everything into it, BUT, when I pulled down the front part of it, it caught my finger and I heard a 'crack'-instant pain and now a sausage finger! Ouch....
Heading northbound in the morning. Gratefully, my favorite coffee is just across the street:) Joyful days! Happy Boxing Day in NZ....
