Not quite sure exactly what time it is but awoke at 606 am this morning on my phone. Merry Christmas:)
Used my $1 sleeping mask last night which certainly came in handy. No need for ear plugs just yet-the sound of the jet engines put me right to sleep. Woke up to the flight attendant handing me a lemon-scented cleansing cloth to freshen up....
Full house on board this flight-rows of 10 seats across and about 65 rows back.
Just about to have breakfast then only another couple of hours until we touchdown in Fiji. :) Oh happy Christmas Day!!
Met a local named Waqa at the airport. Such a kind man. Sought me out-I must have appeared dazed and confused (not uncommon for me)!. Anyhow, we sat and chatted about Fiji and his upbringing. He is a local tribe leader I guess of his local community. Worked in Brisbane AU for 3 months picking fruit-mangoes, cherries mostly-was paid under the table for it. Said he would love to go back. He took me outside the back part of the airport so I could see the ocean and snap a few photos. He recommended travelling here-taking the ferry through the channel islands for my next visit.
They burn sugarcane frequently so there was an overcast of smoke and a burning smell, similar to a campfire outside the airport gates. Hot here-32C right now-no a/c just fans! So neat to go from winter to summer in 24 hours:)
