UPDATE BELOW....
hey guys,
ok so this is our second attempt at writing this blog, the damn internet explorer closed as we had nearly finished the update, so kind of annoyed right now! Sorry that this update comes so soon after our most recent update and it doesnt really give you all time to fully digest the last one, but we thought we should catch up on our adventure before we head of sailing for the week in croatia. We hope this tasty treat will satisfy you all while we are gone for the week, i doubt there will be any internet out there on any of the croatian islands...
ok so we last left off as we jumped on the train in the afternoon from Prague enroute to Munich, we arrived in Munich late that evening and lucky for us our hostel was only a stones throw from the train station..literally! And as soon as we checked in we were awarded two free drink cards (for being awesome) for use in the hostels very own bar. Couldnt reallly get much better then that ohhh yeah! After we dropped off our bags in our dorm and sussed out that our roommates were total tools we decided to head down to the bar and have a nightcap or two..
The following morning we had a bit of a sleep in before heading down for breaky. We soon realised that it was raining outside and that the weather was forecasted to drizzly rain for the rest of the day. We had planned to head out on another free tour that morning but werent feeling it at the sight of rain. After scoring an umbrella from the hostel Adam managed to convince Chloe to head out on the tour. Still we couldnt get over that our streak of hot weather had come to an end, honestly we left Melbourne to skip the cold winter and somehow it found us in Munich, damn mother nature haha!
Rugged up in our little coats and hiding under the umbrella we spent the rest of the morning and the early afternoon getting a taste of Munchen. Here are a few of the highlights from what was the best free tour we have been on so far:
- 5 euro bratwurst and beer lunch, hell yeah!
- saw the brewhouse, hofbrauhaus, where the nazi party was born
- freezed our asses off
- watched the glockenspiel in motion
- learnt how the nazi party came to power in post world war 1 munich, something neither of us ever realised
- hung out in the popes crib (home town church)
- ohhh and didnt i mention that we freezed our asses off haha!
Ok so sorry to cut the update short but dont worry we willl finish this update off tomorrow morning, kind of drained after having to rewrite the same blog! so keep your eyes peeled for the continuation of this entry really soon, and to all a good night
******************************* UPDATE *********************************
OKKKKKKKKKKK soooo sooooo sorry that we havnt given you guys any fresh updates for a while, we have been busy sailing the croatian islands (yes yes we are very far behind on the blog updates, but we have good access to the net here in london now so we will try get right up to speed this week...so get ur reading glasses out guys!!!).
So where we left off last time, after the walking tour we went back to the hostel and rendezvoused with our american buddies Matt and Pat (for those of you paying close attention, our avid blog followers you will remember these two guys from our Barcelona blog). The two Cali boys had just come back from a crazy weekend in Ibiza and had planned to detox in Munich, hahahaha silly move (as if that was going to last). So after a quick catch up, we walked down to one of the Augustiner brewies for a nice feed...ohhh and some beer of course there and at the Hoffbrauhaus. A few beers were consumed that evening needless to say...
The following morning we had planned to all go to Neuschwanstein castle together, which was the last castle built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. But the boys were pretty tired so they bailed on us...but as fate had it Chloe and Adam got distracted by a miniture version of Lassie walking through the train station and we missed our train to the castle. So we decided to go back and wake up the boys to come with us. It was great to have them there for the couple of hour train ride out to Neuschwanstein. We walked up to castle and after waiting a bit to get in we went through for our tour of the castles...and we might have snuck a couple of cheeky photos even though we werent allowed but shhhh dont tell anyone!! The castle is amazing, it is what the Disney castle is designed from and it looks like something out of a fairytale...no jokes!!! The weather started to close in as we left the castle on our way to the viewing bridge over the waterfall not far from the castle. We got saturated going there, and the wooden bridge wasnt exactly the sturdiest of bridges haha, but we had such a great time...although the train ride back to Munchen in wet clothes kind of sucked!!
There werent many good dining options out at Neuschwanstein so we starved ourself during the day and had another awesome meal at another one of the Augustiner brewhouses. The night didnt end there, Adam, Matt and Pat stayed up all night until the following morning to cheer on the LA Lakers in the NBA finals. WOO go lakers!!
And that is it for Munich, after a short sleep for Adam, both the adventurers headed out again on the road (although they nearly missed their train...again hahha!!) enroute back to Budapest.
Peace out bloggers, keep reading on the Budapest update should be up too
Lots of love Adzy and Chlo
