Hello/Ciao/bonjour/gutentage/allo/ (okay you get the point :) )
just a quick note, Adam and Chlöe have a BIG UNO Championship that has been running since Australia and the latest update is that Chlöe has Claimed France! (as well as Australia, BangKok, China, and Italy, learly domnating the comp! haha)
soooo it has been a while since our last update which left us in Paris on our way to Belgium so i better fill you all in on our little last minute (and delicious) Belgium adventure :) After we left Paris on Wednesday afternoon we made our way to a small town/city in the North East of Belgium known as Brugge, some of our American friends had recommended it as a beautiful place to visit and with a few extra days up our sleeve we thought why nit take a small pitstop on our way through to Amsterdam! We arrive in Brugge late in the afternoon aout 6:00 which was ideal because when we arrived at our hostel they had a FREE walking tour leaving at 7, PERFECT! what a great way to get introduced to the town and meet some new people and as always they were all Aussies and Americans! Brugge is Beautiful, its really a pituresque midieval town, alot of tourism books describe brugge as a town that has been locked in time since the middle ages and i have to say they are not far off the mark.
On our tour we leant alot about belgium/brugge's history, how it was conquered by the Spanish the French the Dutch the Germans basically... well everyone. lol. Brugge runs along some really beautiful Canals as well which run through the town they are lined with cobblestone paths big old mideval houses and on the out side of town, plenty of Windmills! It was areally great tour even though adam hobbled the whole way with a sore toe (sooky la la haha) but afterward we headed back to our hostel (which at night doubles as a popular pub) for some BELGIUM BEER!!! our hostel was really great after the terrible paris hostel experience and this pub was dog friendly so naturally Chloe was wrapt!! The next day we hired bikes as we were told it was the best way to see brugge and head out to explore, adam really has to get a bike license though he almost came to an end a few times by riding DIRECTLY in the path of big Belguium horses!!! not his smartest moment haha Inside the town square of Brugge youl find Horses, old lace shops, handmade christmas decoration shops, the best chocolate shops in the world and waffles waffles waffles :P (a little tip aswell, you dont have to buy chocolate, just keep going into the different shops and they give you free ones its the best!!!!!) After having lunch in a park under some windmills, buying some lollies, and having some belgium waffles we left brugge and caught an afternoon train to Brussels :) (p.s we recommend Brugge to anyone its great!)
When we got to Brussells an hour later we arrived at our hotel, thats right a hotel not a hostel, and we were sooooooo happy!! we had space! a real room! with english TV!!!! A mini bar and everything! first thing we did was catch an episode of Two and a half men and Big bang theory hahah (we have our priorities right!) THe next day after a great sleep and a buffet breakfast we were out exploring again :) We decided to just stroll the streets of brussels as we only had the day and just see what we came across, it was a really nice sunny day to be out and about so we went to see some of the noted sights, went up to the top of a 10 story carpark to get a good view (its a great way to see a city for free by the way) we went and explore some flea markets, walked through the city Square, had waffles and of course brought sopme delicious Belgium Chocolate, oh yeah! Brussels was actually a really great city as well, alot like Melbourne in many ways and as a last minute destination we had the best time :)
that afternoon though we head off again to a place you all might know as the city of sin....thats right..........
AMSTERDAM!!!!!
love and miss you all heaps, photos and the next udate will be up soon :ö)
