HI EVERYONE!
So today was officially the first day of our trip and it was JAM PACKED! we left our hotel with our tour guide (and our own personal driver i might add, very shmick!) at about 10am and headed straight to 'The Temple of Heaven' it is an amazing place similar to central park in that its full of people who go to relax, exercise, even sing and dance, only its bigger! and inside the 6m walls that surround the gardens are temples that were built for the Emperor to go and pray and give sacrafices to heaven, its incredibly old about 600years to be exact and everyhthing inside is ancient and mostly original just amazing.
after lunch we went off to the Forbidden City which is bigger then anything you can imagine! no really...think big...then triple it and your half way there. The Forbidden City is surrounded by 10m ancient walls then a 30m wide moat and then more walls! when you walk in it takes your breath away, everything has meaning and a purpose, you never quite no where to look because there is so much to see, we walked from one end to the other and that took around 2hours, i dont think we saw even half because it is that grand! touching walls and walking on marble paths that are 600years old is simply amazing, espicially knowing if you were to touch certain areas reserved for only the emperor to walk on, 100 years ago you would have been killed.. scary stuff. (Funny thing too as westeners we are 'rare' lol so we were filmed, stared at and asked to be in random peoples pictures, had to laugh!)
we were also really luck to be taken to a restaurant that makes authentic original reciepe peaking duck...MMMMM DELICIOUS infact all our food has been incredible! although they gave us enough food to feed an army! After Dinner we headed off to see a Kung Fu Show that believe me, made Jackie Chan look like an amature!! haha little kids doing back flips onto their heads, just nuts!!!!
it was an amazing day i cant possibly tell you everything but hopefully the pitures will help :)
we love and miss you all!!
