Hey all,
We went to the Tower of London today. It is the oldest royal palace in England. It was built to guard the entrance to london from the Thames Estuary. Prisoners were often held here. There is what they call the bloody tower where Edward IV's two sons were put by their uncle. The princes mysteriously dissapeared after their father died in 1483 and in 1674 two skeletons of the two children were found. There was the white tower which was london's tallest building. My personal favorite was the Jewel House. This is where the crown jewels are held. The scepter with the cross contains the world's largest diamond, the first star of africa. It was huge! The crowns, scepters, orbs, and swords are all used at coronations and other occasions. They were really cool to look at. The tower of London is where the jewels were put after being stolen from Westminister Abbey. There are armed guards watching over them.
After the tower we went to the Hard Rock Cafe, the very first hard rock, to celebrate Craig's 21st birthday. I had a strawberry dacquri and a sirloin meal. Craig had a long island iced tea and an open faced sirloin. Our meals were delicious. I would say the best steak and strawberry dacquri I have had.
After dinner we went over to the hard rock store so we could go into the vault. In the vault is a collection of rock memoribillia...guitars, clothes, pictures, etc. It was really neat. We had a private tour...the guide was awesome. We could hold and try on whatever we wanted. We sat on Jimi Hendrix's bench...the guide told us not to worry they washed the cushions so we wouldn't have to worry about having any hallucinations :) We had a lot of fun in the vault.
Love
Craig and Audrey
