Study Abroad
Hey all,
Today we went to the Imperial War Museum. We started out in an exhibit called The Children's War...It was really interesting. There were exhibits on every war that the british had any involvement in. The exhibits on world war 1 and 2 were really neat. There was a lot of stuff to look at. It took us almost three hours just to go throught that stuff....and there were 3 more floors! There were exhibits on d-day, the secret war, art galleries, and then there was a holocaust exhibition. It was really interesting...yet depressing. They had a train car that had been used to transport the prisoners among many other things. It was a very somber and moving experience. There was another exhibit called animals in war that we did not go through becuase you had to pay extra but it sure sounded interesting. I would love to go back because I am sure there is a lot of stuff I missed.
There were two "experiences" you could go through...the trench and blitz. The trench was just like going throught the trenches and the Blitz was like experiencing the blitz with bombs and gunfire all around you and then you got to go see the "damage" that was caused...it was interesting as well.
After the museum we went to Harrod's. Everything is super expensive there. We bought a small bag of chocolates that are really good. On one of the other floors we found a cafe called the chocolate bar. Every dish or drink is mostly made of chocolate. I had a venezuela which was just hot chocolate but it was the best hot chocolate i have ever had. Craig had a Suckao which was literally 100% pure melted chocolate...it was amazing. Needless to say we are a little chocolted out :)
The chefs at Harrods sang while they cooked and everything is sold fresh there. It was neat to look around in but definantly not to shop at on a regular basis.
And the last not so glamorous thing we did of the evening was laundry. There washers and dryers are tiny but stuff dries really fast so it didn't take to long...while we were waiting we enjoyed some more british television.
Love
Craig and Audrey
