June 29th Lunch Break at Qasid
I'm sitting here eating my Falafel Aadee and thinking that it has been awhile since I've written anything. Class has been really busy and we've had a good bit of homework as well. Sunday wasn't too bad, but last night we had to write a paragraph, study new words, and do some exercises in the book. I find that it takes me much longer to complete the grammar portions. The internet in our apartment has been spotty lately, so I haven't been able to load the rest of the pictures. It has been nice talking through Skype and I got to see Paige and Claire yesterday :) Amman has been well for the first weeks that I've been here and the only complaints I would have are the pollution. Since it is a bigger city it reminds me of downtown Houston. For lunch, like today, I usually bring my own water bottle and get one falafel for 30 Kirsh then I'll usually eat more for dinner like at the Yemeni Place. I had lamb fixed like a potroast with potatoes, carrots, and other veggies mixed in, and I dipped flatbread in it. The flat bread is SO good. It is about the size of a small pizza from pizza hut. Plugging in my laptop has not been a problem and I've been charging it in the aprtment. Initially I was worried about an overcharge or someting, but Kul Shay-h Tammam (Everything's good). I wish everyone could visit Amman and see how it really is instread of relying on skewed accounts from others or hearsay... It is an awesome city and the people that I have met couldn't be nicer. I received an e-mail about job and volunteer opportunities so my goal is to look into this further this week. Until then it's study and class time...
