June 26, 2010 Sitting on bed in Apartment, the current time is 8:20 pm
Ok, we never went to Rainbow Street last night. However, we went and ate at the Yemeni Place and tried some new dishes. I ordered what Cameron calls "Bubbly Meat" haha. This is an apt name for it consdering that that it comes in a little cauldron and is bubbling. Dip some flatbread and you're good to go. My ulcers were hurting really bad during dinner so I broke down, went to the Pharmacy, and bought some stuff called "Oral Medic" which is made in the UK. It was 5 JD which is about the same as in the States for Oragel. HOWEVER! There is a HUGE difference between the two! When you apply oragel there is a nice instant numbing sensation and then you don't feel your lip or ulcer anymore. With Oral Medic you apply it with a cotton swab that is filled with Sulphuric Acid (Hydroxybenzenesulphonic Acid and Hydromethoxybenzenesulphonic Acid) for you Doctors and Pharmacists out there. Anyway, right when I touch the cotton swab to the big ulcer it was like fire in my mouth. My lip swelled up and turned a light purple color. I think it killed all of the nerve endings and just burned the top layer of skin off of my lip, because today I peeled most of it off. I will say that the product works though, since I was actually able to eat well today. Last night we went to bed at the call to prayer for this morning (3:30 am) and i slept until about 12:00. It was a nice deep sleep and I woke up refreshed and ready to go today. I studied until everyone else got up and then we went to a new Shewarma place for lunch. It was right next door to the first place we went but it wasn't as good. I found out today that Shewarma is usually chicken, not lamb as I had originally thought. I studied some this afternoon and we caught part of the Uruguay/South Korea match on TV and went for some Falafel for dinner. I tried a new place and ordered eggs with little chunks of hotdogs wrapped in flat bread and some chicken bell pepper stuff as well. I was in the mood for something sweet so we went by the "Star Donut" and I got a Buy two get one free deal. They're not as sweet as Krispy Kreme but are still really good and hit the spot. I think that after I finish writing this I will finish up my homework. Ok time for sidenotes:
1) Our cat is now named Dusty and he slept some with me last night. It's hard not to trip over him because he is always near your feet when you're walking, haha.
2)I like the constant stream of Arabic in Speech, TV, radio, and signs. I can tell that I'm improving in vocab. I just hope it will be enough...
