So this looks like it's to be the final blog entry while in NZ unless I find a computer at the airport.
On Tuesday I went to Christchurch with Jaime and her parents because she had an appointment with her surgeon and Maurice and Rowena were shopping for french doors. Jaime and I went to her friend Kendyl's flat at the University halls in the morning before going to Riccarton Mall for a walk round and while we were there, Josh came up to see me before he flew out the day after.
I cooked dinner last night (yes you read correctly!) as a thank you to Nan which turned out better than I'd hoped. I cooked a seafood Paella using a recipe I found on the internet (!) which was very simple - perfect for me! I was so pleased with it, that I may even cook it when I get back. I went over to Jaime's for a bit and got to say goodbye to Rowena who I wouldn't be seeing today at the Jolly Potter.
I went to patchwork with Nan this morning to say goodbye to all her friends who have been so kind to me while I've been here, especially Doreen who got me the creche work. Then, after lunch, I went up to the high school to see some of the old and new friends I've made over the last 10 weeks. Unfortunately, many of them were on the Outdoor Education Ski Trip so I missed out there, but sent a few of them texts. I tagged along with Jaime to the Jolly Potter for the "thursday after work drink" with Maurice and her cousin Matt and his wife Sarah. On the way home from Temuka, we stopped at the Challenge garage in Winchester where Jaime's friend Ally works so that I could say goodbye to her too.
When Jaime dropped me back at Nan's, she came inside while I grabbed her phone and charger to give back to her which she lent me while I was here. Then, it was time to say goodbye. I didn't cry then, but I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it! It's been so great to catch up with Jaime after a long 8 years on other sides of the world. I guess I'm just in disbelief that my time here is already up, but I'm also excited to get home again after nearly 3 months away.
I've been on the Qantas website, and I think I've checked in online, but will have to double check when I get to the airport tomorrow. We'll be leaving at about 8.30am to get to the airport for 10.30, 3 hours before I leave so I'll have lots of time to wander round the airport before take-off. Then it's a long 27 hours til I'm back home.
I'm going to bed early tonight so that I definately get up tomorrow morning, I'm so used to sleeping in til about 10, it's going to be a struggle. But I have incentive as mum and dad are ringing before we leave in the morning.
Well, I'm off. See you on the other side. Thanks from all of us "Cox on tour" for reading and keeping up to speed with our trip.
Bye xxxx
