Hey everybody, blog entry from the youngest cox here!
Caught my first plane by myself on sunday. Mum and Dad brought me to the airport for about 7pm Sunday and checked in and had some time to kill before my plane started boarding at 10:15. I ended up going through security with M&D waving me off at about 8:30.
I knew pretty much what I was doing, and my gate was really close so I had lots of time to kill and just sat reading my book til I could board. My seat was by a window and I had to change seats in Bangkok, which we didnt leave til an hour after our scheduled departure of 6:20 Bangkok time because of torrential rain and a thunder storm. Meaning that the whole flight was turbulent and I feared that we were going to fall out of the sky
The late departure meant that we arrived in Sydney at 7am tuesday AUS time and I was supposed to be boarding my flight to Christchurch at 6.30am so it was a bit of a panic, about 20 or so of us rushing to get on the plane, which made me very nervous because it was the main thing I'd been stressing about, transferring in Sydney.
I arrived in Christchurch pretty much on time and was feeling very proud and confident until I got to baggage collection and found that my suitcase wasn't there! There were about 30 of us with missing suitcases all harrassing the inquiries staff for answers. Our cases had been put on another flight over to Sydney and mine wouldn't be arriving until 1:50pm, so I decided to go out and come back at 3:30 as advised to get my bag. So Josh and I went to King of Knives where he used to work and spoke to his friend Mel who was really nice and then we went to La Prochetta for some lunch before going back to l'aeroport.
After collecting my bag and having it x-rayed with no problems, Josh and I set off for Geraldine. I only managed about 4 hours sleep in my whole 27 hours in the air, so I snuck in a cheeky nap on the way home.
I'm now nice and snuggly in my pijamas listening to the sound of Rosie and Chris making cups of tea and Josh cooking beef nachos for dinner.
So, an eventful first solo adventure round the world, and I've promised to keep you all more up-to-date than Josh and Rosie have :P
Night x
