This entry is going to focus on tackling the problem of male attention with a focus on the French. With all the big clubs being out of town, up until now I have resisted the urge to visit them, but Thursday night ME and MA said they were going to O Bar, so I thought I'd tag along. I went over to LA's at 10 to share a glass or two of wine, before heading out to the train station, where the bus stops. After squeezing onto the bus we took a 10 minute drive to the first stop of clubs. We sat down outside to finish the wine that ME had brought with her (as usual) and were immediately surrounded by a group of bescarved (?) French boys. They were literally like puppies bounding from LA and I to the others depending on who had just said they were single/ 20 etc. Unfortunately, the one who had been most attentive to me was driven to the other group when I said I didn't like his name (Roxan Heug, WTF?!). He did however return later on in the night showing off his 'moves' like some sort of parrot in front of me. While LA and I were buying a drink (7 euros for the least expensive!!) another jolly garçon came over with some playing cards he was giving to potential conquests. He then asked if I would like his number. I politely declined; and when we got back to the group it turned out 4 of us had received a card.
After some dancing LA and I were thirsty so we decided to find the annoying French boys to see if we could at least get a drink from them to make up for the harassment. Before we found them a burly man came up to me and asked if I was American. After chatting his friends came over and it turned out they play rugby for Montpellier. They were all very polite and offered us drinks as they had a bottle. Don't be too surprised though because they weren't French; a mixture of Irish and Australian I believe. After some light-hearted conversation (I was called Oliver Cromwell by one of them, hilarious at the time) I went home with no fear of being pawed by them. LA however, had started a conversation with a French boy, and so was pawed before she left.
To conclude, stick to the commonwealth, it's much safer.
