So we started our first week with the children on monday. We begin everyday by teaching the children the english alphabet, numbers, shapes and colours. We then do some singing. It is very difficult to communicate as none of the childdren speak english but our sco-ordinator is very good at translating and we have been learning some thai aswell.

As the week went on the childen began to get more used to us and we have begun to find our favourites. Quite a lot of the children are from unstable backgrounds so it was very hard to see how excited they were over a simple toy such as plastic fruit. The hall is big but empty with no basic resources such as books. The book shelf is completly empty.

We play with the children and teach them in the morning, before having their lunch and our lunch. After we have nap time with the kids (pretty amazing), apart from when they want to poke and prod you whilst trying to sleep. After lunch on monday we painted winnie the pooh on the building. The rest of the week we have been renovating the garden and beginning to build a shelter and seating area for the kids, and even had to shovel buffalo poo for fertilizer, oh the glamorous life! Although it is tough in the hot weather it is so rewarding to see the excitment the kids and filled with over the simplist of things that back home and basic to us.
