Another early start to be ready for the coach to head to Paris from London, we are surviving on coffee & berocca as we head to Dover. The drive on the coach passes quickly, between looking out at the passing country side and falling asleep on Melita, who was not enjoying the long bus journey. Arriving at the port in Dover, we see the white cliffs that shelter and surround the seaside town, our wait is a long one as the ferry is delayed because of another passenger - this proves a long wait & our journey to Paris is a long one. The ferry takes 90mins to go from Dover to Calais, we get in around 3.30 & have a 4hr drive to Paris, and we drive straight through.
Disaster strikes as we arrive at the hotel - they have lost power, so we are in the dark & without a lift. A long flight of stairs later we are settled in our room, freshen up and head to dinner - which consisted of only a starter with wine as nothing could be cooked. We were all feeling a little delirious after such long day with delays & setbacks - but the wine definitely helped ease the pain.
We headed off on a night tour of Paris - it was fantastic. We saw the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, the Arc di Triumph, the Opera House, the Grand Palace, and of course the Effie Tower. Paris is stunning at night time, the whole city is light up, and feels magical.
