Waking at sparrows fart - 5.00am, we both are ready to face the day. We soon fuel up on coffee & muesli and head into town to see some of the city, we catch the tube into Leicester Square and walk down to Trafalgar Square, where they have a competition on for best decorated telephone booth. The have some fantastic examples, and some wild ones - my favourite would be the British Flag, in diamantes (subtle ;). We wander down to the Thames, and see the London Eye making its slow circle, as we head towards the Big Ben the heavens open up & we are soon running for cover. We don't get much of a chance to admire the iconic clock, but know that we will be back, and decide to seek shelter and find us something for lunch. We head to Covent Garden & wander the cobble stoned alleys till we find something that takes our fancy - this is a beautiful part of London. The rest of our afternoon is spent window shopping & exploring this area.
Tonight we are headed to Brick Lane in Shoreditch to catch up with one of Melita's friend for dinner - this area is famous for Indian food, so I am very excited. We are also decanting some of our bags before we start the tour and Yolanda has kindly agreed to look after our stuff, so we are loaded with hand luggage as we make our way. We get a little lost, but being only the 1st day I think we are doing ok - on our way to the restaurant I find this beautiful leather shop & fall in love with a mustard hand bag - I know own it.
Dinner was fantastic - it was service at a flying speed, the waiters even had walkie talkies! We departed & head back to pack & re-organise for the tour tmw.
