We sleep in this morning, after many an early start it feels nice not to have to rush & jump out of bed, many of our friends feel the same. It is hot hot hot, when we venture outside and we head down the foreshore to see Le Chateau - a stunning lookout that gave you a 180 view of the coastline. From here we can see the many many yachts that declare this a place for the rich & famous, the pebbled beaches (quite a strange concept for me) and the cafes & restaurant's that line the shore. We soon seek shade from the sun & look for somewhere nice to eat lunch.
Our afternoon is spent exploring the streets of Nice, doing some window shopping and battling with our laundry - as it is starting to take over our suitcase. Nice is a very beach town, with lots of tanned men & women wandering the street (some who chose to flaunt every inch of skin). I am not sure if it's the high heat or just the feel of the place, but it hasn't been my favourite place, I am glad I have come but wouldn't be rushing back.
Tonight we are going to rub shoulder with the rich & famous in Monaco & Monte Carlo, our dinner is just a few doors down from the Royal Palace in Monaco, which is home to the glamorous royal family & former residence of movie star Grace Kelly. We get to eat in style as we have a four course French meal (with wine of course) as we prepare ourselves for the Monte Carlo casino.
As we drive into Monte Carlo, the second smallest country after Vatican City, you can walk across it in 55mins. It has a incredibly high average income, with many people coming to enjoy the tax "benefits", here a helicopter lands every 11minutes - who needs cars anyway. The casino is incredible and very daunting in its extravagance; we soon seek shelter in a very cool bar "The Buddha Bar" and enjoy a cocktail to unwind
