Portugal - wow! So far has exceeded all expectations & hopes. After a long journey from Amsterdam arriving Kate in London we had a mad dash all over town to collect luggage, do washing, down size to a smaller suitcase & eat before flying out the next day. Bright & early we drop most of our possessions off at friends & then collect our backpacks & head to the airport!

We arrive in Porto, Portugal (up north) & as we drive into town we are told it has just won best European holiday destination for 2012 - so we are in for a good time. We meet Suzie at our hostel & she soon takes us into town for a feed - we really try to go for some authentic dishes, however, mine is not edible (squid stuffed w meat, looking a lot like 2 balls on a plate), melitas is a heart attack on a plate (layers of bread w different types of meat & cheese, the coated in cheese & covered in a beer sauce) miss Suzie had grilled sardines & spent most if the night picking bones out! It was a funny meal to start us off & we will look back with fond memories.

From Porto to Lisbon by bus we arrive late arvo, we check into our hostel & hit the streets to get our bearings.

We are off to Sinatra tmw, which is a 45min train ride away.
