I went to the tennis again today at Queen's Club. I have been fortunate to see some of the top seeds playing over the past couple of days, Roddick, Cilic and Del Potro. I saw Raphael Nadal and his entourage file quietly past on his way to the media area, stopping briefly along the way to pose for a photo with a young lass who was gushing with excitement. I was standing nearby but I don't think he recognised me....
I finally saw Phantom of the Opera on Tuesday night, at Her Majesty's Theatre. I thought it would be good, but it was really good. The singing was marvellous, the costuming and sets were spectacular with a number of good effects, complete with chandellier swinging out over the audience, and the Phantom appearing here and there and disappearing. The dramatic performances were impressive .... did I say that the singing was great....
The part of Christine was played by the understudy, which I didn't realise till after I read the actor profiles in the program.
Today I caught the matinee of Flare Path at the Haymarket Theatre, a drama set during WW2 in a hotel. It's stars included some people I have seen in movies before such as James Purefoy and Sienna Miller.
