First day we left our campsite early - for us - at 9am! We decided to eat breakfast in the nearby town of Hawker, which made the pack up quicker.
We sat in the park in Hawker for a while enjoying free wifi and dawdling over breakfast. Then we headed into the town of Quorn to fill fuel and the usual chores of emptying the toilet and filling the water tanks.
Next stop was Port Augusta to do a supermarket shop and we stopped for a picnic lunch in the park alongside the water tower.
In the early afternoon we made our way towards the Ayre Peninsula and our first destination point of Fitzgerald Bay, a small locality on a stunning bay close to Lowly Point and Whyalla.
The tide was out when we arrived and we camped on the edge of the high tide line, marked with seaweed. We enjoyed the afternoon, relaxing in our chairs in front of the van. The view was lovely and as the sun got lower in the sky, we were lucky enough to see a gorgeous sunset behind our van, with beautiful colours reflected on the cliffs on the other side of the Spencer Gulf. Only one thing spoiled our afternoon and early evening - flies, hundreds of them! We sat with our fly nets on (very attractive!) as none of the sprays seemed to work.
Once the sun had set the flies disappeared and we were able to eat dinner in peace outside under a magic starlit sky.
The sun has set on another day in the Zo-Mobil adventures. I've
climbed into bed and have a magic view out my window of zillions of twinkly stars against the black velvet sky. Till tomorrow, good night xx
