We packed up pretty early from redding and headed north. Found a state park just north of Klamath Falls that sounded cool. The 2 1-2 hour drive of course ended up being 5 hours after we stopped for fuel, potty breaks, a coffee for Mamas headache (!), lunch, fishing Licence, etc
Took hwy 97 thru oregon instead of I-5. Such a nicer drive. Beautiful landscape.
Half hour or so north of Klamath falls we get to Collier State park. As usual, oregon state parks are gorgeous. Full hookups, lots of trees & space, nice settings & amenities. Only $24/ night or so. Cheap & great.
This one is right on a river where it converges with another river. Supposed to be amazing fishing.
In previous spots Greg liked the pull thru sites so we didn't have to unhook cuz it was a bit of a pain. This site he was parked, unhooked and outta here on about 5 min to drive down the road to his fishing Licence before they closed. Hmmmm. !!!!
Went for walk with kids. Jesse rode his bike. Met family group down the way with boy about Jesse's age. They were in awe of Jesse riding bike. Of course he had his shredder helmet on so looked cool ;-). Met some nice people along the way. Neighbours with a flamingo that lights up at night, others that gave livvy a golf ball to play with , etc.
On our way here stopped in at klamath falls and ended up at a Thai restaurant. Late lunch. Greg & I not hungry for dinner so cheated & made kids noodles ... Snuck in a little broccoli.
Greg did a little fishing, kids walked & biked & had noodles. Played with trains outside on the big mat. After dinner we made campfire, roasted marshmallows, made s'mores. Livvy MOST impressed. Jesse more interested in balancing with his feet on the arm of the the folding chair. Oh dear.
Did a hand-foot bath inside to wind up the night. Warm soapy water. But livvy a little overtired. A little wiggy and it was quick bedtime without stories & songs. Both kids zonked within a few min. Yay
Today was 21-22 degrees here. Tonight were warned it gets below freezing. Park asks You to unhook & turn off water supply at night to prevent freezing. Wow. Wasn't too bad now, but we're told its crazy cold in the omorning hours. Got the heater on & everyone snuggled in
Tomorrow a couple of hours north .... Some more cool stuff to see
Then it's on to a bit of shopping and homeward bound. ;-)
Miss everyone.
