East on hwy 20 from the coast, and we went through "lake country". Was beautiful but no parks or campgrounds to stop. Odd. Lots of fishing stores & boats around for fishing. Well the plan to turn north didn't happen. Woke up yesterday morning an decided we were so close to Mendocino. Hadn't seen it so made the trek down the coast. Gps said only hour & half but didn't take into account the 27' trailer being towed or the crazy twisty road. So 2 1/2 hrs later we arrived. Fort Bragg just down the road. Amazing coastline. Seriously. Mendocino very quaint and romantic. Lots & lots of art galleries. Neat little shops. Not so relaxi...

Leaving Mendocino and its a bit cloudy. Stopped at the coolest organic/ natural store for a few goods... It's in a historic church. So cool! Diesel, air in the tires & on the road. So we were two whole days and nights without cell or Internet. Tragedy for the Vance's. But good for the family trip. Off the grid! Shelter Cove was a true gem. A place I had discovered online and it was a crazy drive to get there from hwy 101. Twisty turny, up huge hills and down big ones too.
