Got up at 10.30 and Im still not in a great mood from last night. Michael is going to love me today!!!
Went downstairs at 11 and booked the Kuala Lumpur Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour from reception. He recommended all the places we should stop at. It cost 37 ringgits (£7.50) for 24 hours so as we got on the bus at 11.30 we have until 11.30 tomorrow but the buses only run 7 till 8. It's worth the money!
Started in China Town where we stay, there is 38 bus stops at all different tourist attractions.
The first place we stopped at was Central Market, we had half an hour to spend here but as its right near China Town we decided to go and eat western food!
WESTERN ACTUAL FOOD!!!!!! Oh my god!! We went straight for subway!! I know we sometimes eat sandwiches, pizzas or pasta but it's not the same. Sandwiches are on solid bread, pizzas are on hard pastry and horrible and pasta is always to mushy and never tastes of anything! So we usually eat Asian for all meals!! Three meals a day noodles and rice.
Words cannot describe! I don't care that I'm being a bad tourist, every single one of my friends when they go on a WEEK holiday will eat western food at least 3 times but I havnt had anything in 4 months! So I don't care what you all think!! It was weird eating in a clean restaurant where you don't sit on the floor or on plastic stools, the staff were clean, spoke English, had a menu and it's the same price for Asians and Western people! We arnt used to this!!!!!!
After the excitement of subway we 'hopped' back on the bus! The next place we got off at was Little India.
Little India was just a big colourful street, it was quite quiet and sold everything! It sold Indian clothes, sari shops, jewelry, food, spices and gifts! It played indian pop music all the way down the street, which wasn't great. I suppose it is for tourists but the population of Malaysia is 11% Indian so it's more for them.
While at the bus stop waiting for the next bus, a Korean guy started openly filming us, it's not strange here and we get it all the time. They always think me and Michael are a couple. The guy then spoke to Michael telling him his daughter was pretty, smart and single! She was pretty to be fair! Real quirky about life! I guess koreans don't have a gay-dar! Besides Michael is mine!!! Hands off!
Got back on the bus and decided to get off at the National Museum. I think you are supposed to pay to go in but we waited at reception for a while and no one turned up. It was a medium sized open museum that was about Malaysian history and culture.
Malaysian culture is so different! There is Malaysian people all over the world, it showed a map of everywhere! When a Malay women is pregnant they have celebrations all the time, they have rituals to keep the baby safe throughout life. Male and female children are circumcised, after it's done they rest on the ground with lots of other children to get over the stress of having it done.
I learnt about funeral rituals, wedding rituals, which include three big parties, one to say a couple is together, one to say you are engaged and one for getting married, all the parties are the same size and all villagers must attend.
Saw handicraft, traditional wear, textiles, arts and crafts. It got a bit boring, once you've seen a bit of cloth, you have seen a bit of cloth.
Waited at the bus stop with a girl that can only be described as snooki. Got on the bus and it stopped for a photo stop at the National Palace.
The National Palace was huge and so beautiful! I don't know what our Queen Elizabeth is messing about in that pile of bricks for! She should splash out! Bit of colour and it would be good as new! I remember when we called the palace in college! Could not believe it! Well posh, well not as posh as me ;)
The Palace had big horses with men with guns on, and men with guns all through the outside! When I say men, they were about 16! Maybe it's he cologne rich skin! Damn the Asians!
Got back on the bus after 10 minutes, the weather looked like it was going to start raining but we still had so much to see! So we got off at the National Monument.
The National Monument was seven men that look to be in the war and stands 15 meters high. It represents the people who died in the war against Japan in World War 2. It's the worlds tallest bronze freestanding sculpture grouping. Each man represented something different including leadership, suffering, unity, vigilance, strength, courage and sacrifice.
It started absolutely chucking it down! Everyone at home is complaining about the rain but they must be delusional. British rain is nothing! Try being in Asia in monsoon season! It like a bucket is being constantly poured on your head! Fabulous!! Ran all the way to the bus stop, whilst being attacked by two monkeys, got back on the bus and 2 old English couples laughed at us. They can shove off! Stupid tourists. They soon stopped laughing.
We decided to get of the bus again at the Patronas Twin Towers. They are formally the worlds largest sky scraped until 2004 when Taipei 101 took the title. They still are the worlds tallest twin towers surpassing the world trade centre. They are the head quarters for the National Petroleum Company. It has 88 floors. On the 41st floor there is a foot bridge connecting the two towers and you can walk across it. There is a huge shopping mall inside.
We went shopping inside, only window shopping of course, the shops are very expensive designers that we wouldnt even be allowed to look inside.
We got a coffee to warm us up as it was still wet through and the building has air con throughout.
We waited for the 5.50 bus but when it came they said we couldn't get on as they were going home, even though it finishes at 6.30. It's Ramadan though so I understand they want to be with there family and eat but we all paid for the bus and were all stranded. We ended up forcing him to take us to our stops which only took 20 minutes but we argued with him for 15! He could have been home! While waiting for the bus we spoke to an elderly couple from Australia, originally from Sumerset who were amazed at all the places we had been.
Got off the bus at the correct stop finally. Right outside McDonald's! It must be fate! Subway and McDonald's in one day might be over doing it though! You only live one!!! Done! Sold!!
Whilst eating upstairs Michael stopped and stared, he was looking at everyone! Everyone had absolutely huge meals but not one person was eating! These girls told us its because it's Ramadan, I thought it finished at 6 though! Haha
They said they didn't mind us eating as its not our religion, they did stare though with chips in there eyes and bellys rumbling! They had HUGE meals. One girl had 2 burgers, 3 bags of chips an a big drink to herself!
We were speaking to a girl who has done Angkor Wat while fasting and said she nearly passed out! We spoke to other people who said while its Ramadan, you get ID'd when in restaurants, staff demand to see your passport and can refuse to serve you!!!
Went to the cash machine and drew money out! Absolute heaven! I nearly kissed the machine before I came back down to earth and realised I'm in Asia and don't want HIV from it.
Worked out money with Michael then went to the China Town Market. I bought some new flip flops as mine arnt quite as flippy and floppy as they used to be and Michael bought a phone case!
Went back to the room and we both stayed up till 3 talking to friends and blogging. We shouldnt have really as we have to be up at 7 tomorrow! Mehh
