Woke up at 9, packed and went to say goodbye to Da for the second time before 10. Hate it. Tears all round.
Moving on... me and michael went to get some breakfast from the Mini Mart across the road, it's so cheap! Finding Michael with arms full of food being offered baskets by the staff was hilarious! His mother would love this! All for under £2!
Booked a taxi with the guest house, it cost 160000 dong (£4.60) for the 45 minute journey! The taxi picked us up at 10.30! Asian time keeping doesn't bother us any more!
We are both very sad to be leaving Vietnam, it is our favourite country by far out of the four we have visited in South East Asia! After we have travelled Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia we want to return here!
We are both also excited to fly! This is travelling in style! No mucky sleeper bus or freezing day time transport! An actual flying contraption! Although Michael has been warned he won't fit in the seats as he is so tall and the planes are built for Asians. Can't wait to see this.
When we first came travelling our rucksacks were 14 kg each, we knew they had gained weight so we upgraded to 20kg luggage for $1. Lucky we did, my rucksack came to 19.9 kg!! How lucky is that! Although, it reminds me I have to send stuff home soon, it's far to heavy! Michael's was 17kg! Lucky boy.
Waited a while then went though customs. I always get stopped and this was the first time I didn't! Michael did though and they searched his bag but didn't confiscate anything .... More to this later...
Found out that the duty free shop in the airport is the most expensive shop in Asia!! Haha you can't even haggle! We got occupied judging all the models for the perfume adverts (we hate Emma Watson the stuck up witch) and ended up speed walking to our gate.
True to form, the plane was running 40 minutes late! This is Asia!! In one of the shops they sell 'Wog dolls' the black dolls that are banned in Britain! Maybe they aren't bad in Asia! They had white, black and yellow dolls.
Got on the plane! We are flying with Air Asia. Thankfully Michael wasn't to tall for the seats! I was in the middle seat next to an asian lady. I put on my seat belt and the 40 year old lady next to me asked me to do hers as she didn't know how. I showed her how to fasten and unfasten it and adjust it. It's weird how I take putting a seat belt on for granted!
The plane could seat about 300 people but I counted 28 people on the flight! we thought the flight would take 2 hours as that's what the website told us, our friend told us it takes 2.5 hours, lonely planet said it takes 3 hours so naturally we prepared ourselves for a 5 hour flight... we landed in 50 minutes! Its a bit ridiculous but maybe it's 50 minutes late setting off every day so they just say 2 hours! Ha logic!
Got off the plane and realised why Michael got stopped at customs, I bought him a glass bottle of vodka for his birthday which they didn't find in his bag and let him go?! So we just smuggled a litre of vodka into a Muslim country. Fabulous! Top international smuggler!
Got to the entry part of the airport, we get a free 90 day visa here but I think we are only staying for a week or two.
Changed money at the bureau in the airport, it's never good exchange rates but we had to have money for taxis and things!
Booked a prepaid taxi from the airport to China Town which cost £8 each and takes 1.5 hours. You can do it cheaper but you get two trains and a bus and lots of waiting around so we splashed out!!
Checked into the first place we saw, it's called Backpackers Inn Hostel and costs 50 ringgits (£10) a night, which is expensive but we were warned Malaysia and Singapore are pricey. Feel a bit unsafe in this hostel so might not stay here the whole time!
Went to the restaurant downstairs for tea, had rice and shared spring rolls. It was expensive!! We eat Asian food all the time but there is so many western restaurants here!
I still don't have any money, it's been 4 days now and me and mum are never online at the same time to sort my bank out but it needed to happen! Michael is kindly lending me money!
Went back to the hostel and you only get wifi in the reception so skyped mum in front of everyone to try and sort it out! All that happened was I entered my security number in wrong on the Internet so the bank blocked me for fraud. All that needed to happen was HSBC to be told it was me, or someone pretend to be me and to unblock it. Simple.
Mother knows best though so she was in the phone to my bank for 4 hours trying to sort it out. By bank didn't need to know I'm in Asia as I don't have my card here and do it all online! My bank now knows I'm in Asia and is bombarding me with emails telling me what to do and how to do it. Blah blah blah.
I had to call India via England to talk to someone who didn't speak English on a bad connection. I got transferred 4 times to people asking me the same question then they hung up on me telling me they couldn't hear me.
At this point I was crying my eyes out, begging them not to hang up on me, real desperate about life, while I had no money in Asia, 7 lads in reception looking awkward, Michael trying to Skype my mother, the receptionist telling me to get off the phone and having 13.7 cockroaches crawling all over!
Stressed is an understatement. Everyone in Asia now knows all my bank details but I couldn't care any less. The battery was dying on my phone so Michael said to leave it for a bit and de stress at the China Town Market.
It did de stress me, stayed at the market for an hour, had been on the phone to mum since 8pm and it was now 10.30pm. Kuala Lumpur is a holiday maker place so it's full of annoying British running around clinging onto there bags for dear life and paying silly amounts for crap they don't need! Also people trying to sell me DVDs!! What am I supposed to do with them?? I live out of a bag. They have amazing fakes though! If I ever have money again I may be forced into buying one!
Went back to the hostel, stayed in reception and skyped mum expecting the worst. Earlier I had contacted Andrea to try and get hold of mum so she knew the situation! Andrea and Geoff had called there HSBC and told them to call mum. Mum was on the phone to this kind lady while I skyped her. She sorted out my bank for me! I then had to check it but my Caxton travellers card had gone done! Great! This happens all the time though so no issue! Its sorted! Yey!
I know I moan but big thanks to mum, Andrea and Geoff for helping me!! Couldnt have done it without you! Kisses from Malaysia!! <3
Now where did Michael leave that litre of smuggled vodka?! I need a vodka on the rocks, easy on the rocks! If not I may just end it.
I've cried all day so no longer care about anyone of anything.
I have to sleep on a rock hard stupid bed, in a dirty stupid hostel, with idiots making stupid noise, in smelly stupid Malaysia, with cockroaches and stupid rats everywhere and no stupid money!
I would be dropping F bombs instead of saying stupid if family didn't ready this.
