So today is anika´s birthday and our final day in Rio!!! We spent hours on the internet trying to find accommodation for the next day in Buenos Aires- bit last minute we know, but adds to the excitement? We then did our laundry... yes you read it right... our laundry- Anika knows how to celebrate in style! We roamed the streets in the sun and FINALLY got to try the Twix Mcflurry! Tony was obssessed with them and we had been dying to try it since arriving in Rio!...

So we went on the Favela tour today. It was so interesting and we enjoyed it alot. Luckily our tour guide was really good and he explained all corruption and crimes that occur in Brazil and why. It really was fascinating stuff. During the tour we visited a Favela school (see pics and video) It was great. In the evening our hostel decided to go sit on the beach with a guitar and a couple of beers. This didnt appeal to us much as the beach front at night in Brazil...

Today we got up and got ready for our favela tour, only to find that by mistake we had been cancelled. A group of lads had cancelled their tour that morning and we were cancelled with them in error. We became friends with the lads- Tony, Ross and michael and ended up on the beach with Tony. The day was beautiful and the beach was so crowded. Unfortunately, Anika and I guided Tony to the gay section of the beach (we hadnt realised until it was too late!) Wow... we...

Woke up late today so we could recover from the street party the night before. Weather was still not great, but we didn´t mind as we were going to a football match in the Maracana stadium. The game was between Flamengo (the biggest Rio side) and Portuguesa. The atmosphere in the stadium was insane, even before the match had kicked off! We both lost a bet as we predicted the wrong final score, it was a really exciting game, the final score was 2-2. All the locals...

So today we thought we´d chill on the beach-top up our tan, but it was so cold!! For Brazil- probably baking hot for Englands standards lol. We sat and chilled with our new friend Seiji which was fun. We decided to all cook a meal together at the hostel (´Girl in ipanema´). We made a tomato, basil- with a bit of ham thrown in - pasta!
