Well for the next few days we checked out the area- found an internet cafe and the local banks and tried to sort out our accommodation for the rest of our stay in Rio.

Boring stuff really but we had a laugh anyway. At the internet cafe we discovered that nishs´chip reader didnt work so we couldnt upload photos- obviously we sorted that out now! The following day when the chip reader worked we managed to erase 20-30 photo´s off the camera chip!!!!! Photo´s lost forever!!! We told you we were bad with electrical equipment!

We´ve now moved from a hotel (Copacobana) to a hostel (Ipanema) and whilst packing our things, Anika managed to reset the combination on her padlock (we dont know how- only she could do such a thing...) Only, she did not know what the new combination was!! So, Anika could not get into her entire backpack!!! She panicked but eventually cracked the code and got into her backpack! (Took about half an hour of sheer terror though)

We lugged our backpacks and rucksacks to the bus stop about 4 blocks away and got onto a shaky bus then walked to the new hostel in the heat. We could have taken a taxi but we thought we´d save 2 pounds-literally- and it was certainly an experience and we made it safe and sound! (Just with achy backs thats all...)

We are now in a much better, safer, hip area and amongst all the other backpackers so plan to have a great time!
