It has been a very hot and sunny day here in Beijing. We had a gorgeous lunch in the hotel and then had free time to explore whatever we wanted. Eleven us decided to visit the Lama Temple so three taxis were summoned to take us there. Oh my word what a nightmare the roads are. So busy and no such thing as give way! It's every car, bike and pedestrian for themselves.
We got to the temple and it was magnificent. A lot of the colours reminded me of the Chinese Garden at the Festival site. We only had an hour to look round but that was probably enough time. Any more time and we would have been smoked out by all the burning incense.
It was then time to get a taxi back to the hotel. Easier said than done! When we did manage to get one the driver couldn't understand what was written on the hotel card and he ended up phoning someone. We got back eventually through the rush hour traffic in time for dinner which was delicious even though I wasn't really hungry.
Tomorrow we are doing our first Tai Chi training in the morning so really looking forward to that. Also visiting the Forbidden City.
