Our first visit today was to Utopia. I would describe it as an ethnic minority theme park but theme park makes it sound a but like Disney and it wasn't like that.
For those back home you will be delighted to know it was raining! It was still warm though. We were loaded onto a raft which was big enough for our group and took a trip through gorgeous waterways, past villages and there were wooden stages at the edges were we were greeted by people in ethnic dress who were dancing. At one point we went through a cave like tunnel in the dark and the driver was at the back of the boat! How he steered without hitting the sides was little short of a miracle. The scenery was stunning and the water was so clean - a bluey green colour.
We were on there for about 20 minutes or so and then we landed at a different point from where we took off and enjoyed a number of little activities put on for the tourists. First of all there were people sat in costume singing then people weaving at looms. At this point there were items for sale and there was a bit if a frenzy to buy some tops.
We moved on to another wooden platform where some of us joined in with dancing. That was good fun. We then moved onto another point where we stood underneath an upstairs window while someone threw silk balls down to the waiting crowd. I think if you got one (I didn't) it was lucky.
We then went into a long barn like structure which was full of stalls. At this point Tary stood at the end telling us we couldn't stop! It was like taking a child into a toy shop and expecting them not to be interested.
It was a great place to visit.
