We arrived in Wellington via Palmerston North. We stayed in Palmerston North over night with Jo & Nick's sister (in law) and brother in law & little Abbie. Unfortunatly we didnt have a lot of time with them, just time for them to feed us, have some lovely ice cream and a good nights sleep, it was great to meet them though and we are really grateful for them having us :).
After dropping the hire car off (we were very sad to leave our brand new car) we met Kate Thorpe at her work place and dropped our bags off to go and explore Wellington. We had a look around and booked a bus trip for the follwing day. We stayed with the Thorpes who are friends with my (Andy) parents. We really enjoyed staying with them, we went bowling which Sarahs boyfriend Tom won and then we went out for the pub quiz and had a meal there, the quiz was great fun and we didnt do too badly considering alot of the questions were on New Zealand. The Thorpes have 3 wonderfull pets, Leicester the dog and cats Rocco and Mitsey. We thank them very much for letting us stay (and doing the washing!!) we had a great time with you guys and hope to see you again not too far into the future. In the daytime we went on a bus tour of Wellington which was good but for an annoying woman who made it into 'her tour' and kept interrupting the tour guide. We finished the tour at the top of the Wellington Cable Car. There was a cable car museum at the top which we had a look around and had one of the original cable car trams up there, the musuem also has a video on the private baby cable cars which people have built for there own individual houses. We then went down the cable car to the Te Papa museum (Museum of Wellington) lots of history about Wellington and New Zealand in general, also explaing about volcanic plates and earthquakes as Wellington has little ones everyday. We then left New Zealand behind flying to Sydney
